Muscatine, Iowa High Bridge at Night

This is my hometown bridge that takes you across the Mississippi from Iowa to Illinois. Pretty cool!!!!

The email that I received this image in mentioned that Muscatine power and water absorbs the expense?

We're ENGAGED =-)

We arrived in Boulder on Friday, July 3rd, to a beautiful afternoon in Boulder. We headed downtown to get a slice of Nick & Willy's Famous Take & Bake Pizza. We ran in to Willy and hung out and caught up while we enjoyed our slices. Amy quickly realized where I learned to cook.
We got up Saturday, July 4th, and headed up to the Indian Peaks Wilderness. On our way we stopped at Moe's bagels where I got my favorite a garlic bagel with herb cream cheese. Yummy breath!!!!! We arrived at the Brainard Lake parking lot at 9 AM and began our ascent up Mt. Audubon (13,233 feet). Amy blasted up it like a warrior and became one with nature on the way up. I guess during college she was the squirrel queen but on this day she was chipmunk and marmot queen.
All joking aside, we say a ton of wildlife and it was great to be above tree line for about 4 hours. We actually were in a pocket because we were above the clouds down in Boulder and Denver but yet it was absolutely beautiful and clear above tree line.

Here is Amy summiting Mt. Audubon, you can see some clouds coming in behind us. That is Longs Peak and Rocky Mountain National park behind her.

Once at the top we hunkered down out of the wind and had a picnic.

Which is when I asked her to spend the rest of her life with me.

I think the big smile means YES!!!!!!!!

More to come... we are heading up to the Aspen area Monday afternoon and then down to Telluride on Wednesday to visit Uncle Kevin, Annie and Emma.

Not something you see everday?

I came across this picture not to long ago and thought I might share it with my fellow bloggers/cyclists. You see some funny stuff sometimes while out on your bike. I have ridden in many group rides around the country but I believe this might be the first...

Please take your own bag!!!!!!!

I have seen a PowerPoint of this powerful message but recently I noticed that the HomeMade Biscuit Eater had posted on her blog a link to a website that paints a very clear picture of why we don't need to use plastic bags.

Please do your best to show this to the people you love. They need you to help them realize their responsibility.

Thanks

Internet Safety and Your Kids

Even though I generally use this blog for personal stuff, I figured that maybe some of my readers may have children and reading this list of things to do with Internet Safety and your Kids might be advantageous. Happy Reading!

Internet Safety Tips

While Internet filters are part of the solution, Internet safety policies and guidelines can help make the inthe Internet a safer experience for your family.

Here are some general guidelines:

Place your computer in an open room with the monitor facing out. This allows you to see and control what is occurring on the Internet. Educate your children about the Internet, both the positives and the potential dangers. Explore the web with your children and talk with them about their online activities. Type in child-friendly web site addresses for younger children.

Bookmark child-friendly web sites. This allows your children to easily get to safe sites that they have used before. Teach your children that Internet safety means never giving out personal information over the Internet. Share your Internet child safety experiences, both good and bad, with others.

Teach your children to refrain from chat rooms. Don’t install Peer-to-peer (P2P) applications. A high percentage of what occurs with children and peer-topeer applications is related to either illegal or immoral activities.

Teach children to crash and tell. If they encounter a bad experience, they should feel comfortable in immediately turning off the computer and talking with a parent about the experience. Never allow your children to meet with someone from an online session unless the parent approves. Know the parents of your children’s friends and keep a list of your childs approved cyber pals.

Teach children to never open e-mail from someone they don’t know. Never respond to an “unsubscribe” option on a pornographic email. If you or your child receives a message that is harassing, of a sexual nature, or threatening, forward a copy of the message to your ISP, and ask for assistance.

Internet child safety is crucial in creating a fun and safe family Internet experience.

PezCycling News

I am often times pulled to Velonews.com to catch up on my cycling news fix but as many men do, I surf to the daily distraction on PezCyclingnews.com to check out the latest in cycling distractions. Up until yesterday I have not been entirely sold on PezCyclingnews.com for a outlet of cycling news, but yesterday I read the story in the one of the online mags speciality column where folks in and around cycling get PEZ'd. This particular interview was with El Jefe` de PezCyclingnews.com.

I am love the underdog story about the guy or girl that starts something and does something for the love of doing it. PASSION for what you do is an attribute that I deeply admire. So take a minute and look over the interview, I believe that it will inject a little rocker fuel into your excitement about life, cycling and passion for doing things that we love.

WORD!!!!!!!
