B-day @ Mexico

Amy had a birthday this past Wednesday and since the options for dining are so plentiful in Albany, we headed Casa Tapatia for some yummy chicken fajitas, margs. and some chips and salsa.
Lane had a great time at dinner. He has always loved to eat limes and we caught some funny pics of him in action.

We also met a group of cycling friends for Mexican to celebrate Amy's birthday the previous Saturday. But we had our own fun on this special day.

Camilla Java

Camilla Java is located in historic downtown Camilla, Georgia. I highly recommend that the next time you are passing close to Camilla that you make a special trip to get a fresh brewed cup of java, buy a pound of fresh roasted coffee and/or get one of their delightful peanut butter chocolate chip cookies made with local peanuts that are made into homemade peanut butter (YUM!). Don't tell Amy but I stop and get a cookie everytime I pass by! Did I mention that their soup is do die for and the grilled panini's are wonderful?

The atomosphere is relaxing and rejuvenating. So stop by Camilla Java and get some hippy crack!

Feliz Cumpleanos!

Yeh! I made it to 34. I have to admit that when I was 18 I never thought I would make be 34. I knew I would make it there but just thought it would take forever.

My little brother sent me a text message calling me Gramps. I laughed and told him that the funny thing is that I don't really feel physically older but instead just feel more responsible or at least am suppose to be more responsible.

As a matter of fact I have to say that I may be in just as good of shape as I was when I was 18.

I definitely feel better today then I did at my 21st B-day. All I can disclose it that I crashed my bike on the way home and put cotton socks over my toes before I passed out to not get blood on the sheets. When I awoke the next AM, for some reason the socks were stuck to my toes. Guess I didn't put 2 and 2 together on that one.

Anyway, like many of my B-days, last night I spent my evening eating sushi with people that are special to me.

Thank you Amy and Lane, I had a great B-day.

Old Friends

I was browsing the class of 93 website this morning after Dave had sent out an email reminding everyone about the new feature that he added (facebook feature).

I came across many great stories and photos. Thanks everyone that is willing to share, it is great to hear about folks that we spent so much of our lives with.

One that I would really like to point out is Rachel Peters. Check out what she is up to! If you have never been to Prescott, AZ then on your next trip to Arizona you need to stopped by and see why Rachel has found happiness. It is a beautiful place. Lots of Love to you Rachel!

9 degrees and the Cat Meowed

Amy and I traveled this past weekend to Dick's Creek near Dahlonega. We stopped by REI on the way up Friday night so that Santa could pick up Amy's new 20 degree Cat's Meow.

During the week my extensive weather research led me to believe that the temperature might dip a touch below freezing but more than likely no colder than 25 degrees. Well... we found out later from a local yahoo that the temperature at her home had dipped to 9 degrees. IT WAS COLD!!!!!

Saturday morning was very cold, we had sat in the car for about 2 hours and were nice and toasty and thus thought that it would be OK to try to ride around 9 AM. We were wrong (I was, Amy just trusted me). We road for about 15 minutes and both were on our way to getting frostbite on our hands. We turned around and got back to the car ASAP. The sweet guy I am, I let Amy warm her hands on my tummy. Learned that one time in Colorado.

We headed to town to drink more coffee and shop! The square in Dahlonega is wonderful. We especially enjoy visiting The Crimson Moon. Around noon we headed to Dahlonega Wheelworks to see what has been happening! Jon the owner was around and fully caffenaited. He has a cool shop, check it out!

We started out on our ride Saturday around 1:45 PM. Headed out for 3 Gap - Woody's, Wolfpen, and Neal's. Uphills the temperature was great but very chilli on the downhills. Coming off Neal's at dusk was bone shivering.

Saturday night was fabulous. Good wine, rice and black beans, big camp fire and a little snow provided a calm and enjoyable evening.

Around 10:30 PM we heard a dog off in the distance, apparently trying to chase or catch a wild animal. Next thing we know their is a set of eyes off in the distance. I flash my headlamp just in time to see a dog running up the road. We are a bit freaked out at this point because we had recently watched The Strangers (in fastforward mode because neither of us could stand the suspense) and are both still a bit jumpy!

We decided it was time to head into the tent and get warm. I am pretty sure that I was asleep in about 30 seconds since I drank most of the wine and ate two bean and rice burritos (YUM!) This part of the story is according to Amy since as I previously mentioned I was in a state of Zen! About 20-30 minutes later Amy is awoken to something moving about the camp site. She tried to awake me but I was in Zen mode. The something which she believes was a dog moved around the camp site, smelling and peeing! Amy tried numberous times to awake me but only got incoherent mumbles followed by a deep breathing. After giving up on me to protect her the wild animal (dog) eventually left the camp site.

Sunday was beautiful! We awoke and worked together to make breakfast and pack up camp. I had scoped out a hike up the Western side of Brasstown Bald. I was not sure of the distance and we found out at our arrival that the hike up would have been 5.5 miles.

We hiked 45 minutes straight up to the ridge line and found a beautiful spot where we could see the Brasstown summit, sit and sun bathe.

We head back down the trail to the car after about 30 minutes of mediation. Shot down 400 to DICK's @ Lenox and finished up some Christmas shopping, to arrive home in Agony, GA around 8:30 PM.

It was a great weekend and I am very happy to have Amy to spend weekend's like this with.

Mark's Melon Patch

This past weekend Amy and I took Lane and his best buddy Miles to the Mark's Melon Patch to ride the hayrack ride...

play in the jump castle, eat boiled peanuts, ice cream and play in sunflowers.

The boys also posed in the Frankenstein and Dracula faceboard.

We all had a great time but I am worried that Amy may have found her a sweet farmer to spend time with...

Everyone had a great time and we look forward to many Halloweens together.
